(Updated on 3/21/2017 - triggers have been moved!) ( I just created a new related post on how to create a multiple choice question on the form that a bit simplified - takes the "other" answers in a multiple choice question on a form, and updates the multiple choice options with those as options.) I guess it was only a matter of time before I ended up dabbling with Google Scripts. Today I was asked by a teacher how he could populate a drop-down list on his Google Form from data on a spreadsheet - and have it update as he changed the data. Not finding an add-on for this (why recreate the wheel? :-) I explored creating a script. And...discovered that this task is not too hard! To do this yourself - 1. Create your form. Really important step. Make sure to create your drop-down item and give it a title, but you do not need to add any options to it (because later you will populate it from the spreadsheet). 2. Create the spreadsheet whe...
In a prior post (from 2 years ago!), I shared how you can add an event to your calendar from email . Today I noticed a nifty little change in a calendar event that I had added this way. It now has a Source link that links back to the the originating email the date was in. I don't know how long it has been there, but it sure is a nice piece of information to have!
So my #MACUL16 Tipsheets generated some ideas from all of you! Here's a bonus tipsheet with your ideas - Bring a power strip to make new friends at crowded outlets. ~Carol Isakson Get to your sessions early. Once a session is full, the doors will be closed and a “Session Full” sign should be visible. If you see a session full sign on a door or a representative tells you it is full, please respect that and do not enter. Don't try to fill every session slot . Spend an hour in the exhibit hall or just sitting and reflecting on other sessions. Your brain and your feet both need a rest sometime. ~Andy Losik Wear your badge . The badge holder and lanyard will be in your conference bag. You will pick up your bag after check-in. Before you arrive at the conference stop by the store and grab some easy to eat bananas, granola bars, etc. ~The President (?? Not sure which president!) Come celebrate our 40th anniversary with us on Thursday night! The MACUL party wil...
There are two situations that I have run across where a G Suite for Education School would need to whitelist a domain (or subdomain). These are: If your students and teachers are on two different domains If you are in a situation like me - as a support organization I want to provide training to teachers that are in their own Google Apps district It is quite easy to do this - it just has to be done by a Google Apps for Education Administrator. There are THREE parts to this, make sure all of them are set for it to work properly! Part 1 - add the domains In the Google Admin Dashboard, click on Domain (if it doesn't show, click on the More at the bottom) Once in the Domain management area, click on Whitelisted domains- Click on Add new - 1. Type in the domain to whitelist, then 2. Click on Add Domain to Whitelist - Part II - Set Classsroom Settings Go back to the Home level of the Google Admin panel - click on the Apps icon: Click on the...
One advantage of using Google Calendars is the ability to invite others to an event. When you are invited to an event, it will automatically add the event to your primary calendar and give you the ability to respond. The event will have a variety of circles in front of it (month view) or shading (week view) to indicate your response to the invitation. It will also notify the person organizing the event as to your status, if you have set it. (Here is a video on How to Accept/Decline an Invitation to an Event .) Included are how to do this both in Google Calendar, and from within your email. To accept/decline an invitation to an event while in Google Calendar: Find the event on your calendar, it will have white shading in the week/day view - Or a white circle in front for a view with more than a week- When you click on the event, you will have the option to respond at the bottom of the event. You can just click on your selection - ...
