Google Calendar - How to Utilize the Tasks List

Google has finally integrated its "Tasks" into Calendar in a more useable way that previous iterations.  There are multiple ways to add tasks, and you can even add items from the calendar now.  You have the ability to have open tasks with no due dates, or set due dates for tasks (or even sub-tasks) - so no matter your organizational style, this may work for you.

Today we are going to explore how to utilize the tasks list to organize and manage your projects.  This will give you a basic understanding of how the task feature works.  Tomorrow we will show how to add a task directly on the calendar.

First, you need to make sure your Tasks calendar is enabled & viewable.  Check this in the left side -

Next, to access tasks, click on the little blue circle icon on the right side of your calendar -

You will see a menu appear on the side.  Once items are added to your tasks, you will see all of the following areas:
1 - which task list you are viewing
2 - spot to click to Add a task
3 - previous tasks you have added
4 - list of completed tasks (these are hidden here until you click on it)

If you want to create a new task list, click on the drop-down that displays the current task name -

You can switch between existing task lists, or create a new list -

When you are viewing the task list you wish to edit, to add a task click on the Add a task -

You will be able to fill in/edit any of the following pieces of data for a task:
1 - Name of task
2 - Task details - this can include links
3 - Which task list it is part of
4 - Set a due date
5 - Add subtasks

When you click Add date -

... a calendar will pop up for you to set the due date -

Adding subtasks is the same as adding tasks -

Clicking on Add subtask you can add as many subtasks as you wish -

Clicking on a subtask -
...and you can edit the subtasks (including setting a due date) -
 Here is a task list with tasks, subtasks, and several due dates -

This is how it shows up on your Task calendar -
 Clicking on it, you get a pop-up window where you can:
1 - edit the task
2 - delete the task
3 - mark the task as complete
