Google Classroom - Reorganize Your Classwork

Sometimes you want to move a topic to the top of the Classwork section to highlight it for students that need that focus.  Or maybe you accidentally assigned an item to the wrong topic, and need to re-assign it.  It is easy to reorganize items within your Classroom as long as they are within your Classwork section (this does not work for items in the stream). To organize your Classwork: When in the Classroom click on Classwork- To make modifications to a topic, you can click on the More menu (3 stacked dots)- You will get several options - 1 - Rename: will bring up the window below to change the name 2 - Delete: will delete the topic (but not the posts assigned to it) 3 - Copy link: will copy link you can use with students to direct them to the specific topic 4 - Move up/down: will let you reorder the topics You can also move topics by dragging & dropping - Additionally, you can reorder items OR add them to a topic by dragging and dropping -...

Google Classroom - Updating a Post in the Stream

Today's tip is how to update a post that is already in your Google Classroom Stream.  Whether it is an assignment or an announcement, there are times you may need to update how a post is used - or even where the post is in prominence on your stream.  Your options will be to move to top, edit, delete or copy link; we'll give an explanation of each below. Here's how to start. Find the post in your stream you wish to update.  Click on the More menu (3 stacked dots)  -  You will see the following menu options - Here are what each option will do: Move to top - moves the post to the top of your stream  Edit - allows you to edit the post Delete - deletes the post Copy link - copies a direct link to the post, which you can use elsewhere (ie. email to student)

Google Classroom - Organizing & Archiving Your Courses

What if you need to change the name of a course?  or what can you do with your courses from last year? Can you put your courses in a different order when looking at them?  Can you copy a course that you have all set up how you like? It can be important to know the answers to questions such as these.  Below, we will walk through the "More menu" for a course, which is how to organizing, edit, copy and archive your courses. You can access the More Menu by clicking the upper right corner of a course (it is 3 stacked dots) - This gives you several options for the course -  1st - Move -  Selecting Move brings up a window that lets you choose where to move the course in relation to your other courses.  Easily move it to the beginning (1) or the end (3) of your list - Another way to move courses is by drag & dropping -  2nd - Edit  Selecting Edit will bring up the same window as when you created the course so you can change ...

Google Calendar - Moving Events

For many of us, scheduling an event doesn't mean it is going to happen - often the event is rescheduled and needs to be moved to another date and/or time on our calendar.  You don't need to create another event, instead you can move it. Here is a video on how to move events , if you prefer. There are a couple different ways you can move an event in Google Calendar. Google App Launcher Is Getting an Update!

Heads up! The Google App Launcher, also known around here as the "waffle" (here's where I chuckle), is going to see an update next week on August 1! According to the G Suite Update Alerts, it will change from this: to this: If you have already customized yours, the change will NOT go into effect.  (Many of you Google users don't know that you can re-arrange the icons in the launcher to a layout you prefer-you can still do this if you want a different order than the default.)

Google Takeout - Transfer Files

You may have students that are graduating this spring and want to move files/emails from their school Google accounts to a personal Google account.  Is this possible?  Yes, it is!  Google has made this much easier over the years.
