Google Mail - Compose view: pop-up vs full-screen

Image
Perhaps you would prefer to have a larger window when composing email, or perhaps occasionally need a larger window to see more of the draft message.  Here is how to switch between views with Google Mail When composing a message, the default is for it to be in pop-up view.  To extend the window into what is called "full-screen" click on the middle icon of arrows in the upper-right corner: Please notes - this will extend the window to be larger, but does not truly make it full screen. To shrink back to the pop-up view, click o the middle icon of arrows in the upper-right corner (the arrows will be pointing towards each other): If you find that you prefer the larger window to compose email in, you can set it as your default by going to the More menu (3 stacked dots) and selecting "Default to full-screen": Likewise, if your email is already set to the default of full-screen, you can turn it off by going to the More menu (3 stacked dots) and de-selectin...

Google Calendar - Display Only 1 Calendar

Image
If you are like me, you have MANY calendars to deal with.  You also may have many shared calendars from other people.  It is an easy thing to switch to viewing only 1 calendar if you need to quickly see events for just that one.  Here is a video on how to display just one specific calendar , if you prefer. 1- find the calendar you want to see in the left side list. 2- click on the calendar options (the 3 stacked dots) - 3 - select Display this only to see events for just that calendar - That's it!

Google Calendar - Hide/Show Calendar Events

Image
Your calendar can quickly become cluttered if you have a variety of calendars - both your own and those shared with you.  It is very easy to have access to calendars, yet have the events on those calendars only showing when you WANT them to. Here is a video on how to hide or show a calendar if you prefer. On the left side where your calendar list is, notice the colored boxes: Those that are filled in are the calendars you are viewing.  Those that are empty are those you have access to, but the events are hidden. At any time, you can click on the colored box to either hide or show the events for that calendar.  In the example here I am clicking the calendars "off" to hide the events: Clicking on the box again will fill it, and display the events for that calendar along with your other calendars you are viewing.

Google Calendar - How To Change Your Viewing Option

Image
There are several viewing options for how you can look at your calendar.  Depending on how busy your calendar is, or how far out you like to see, you might want to change from the Week view. Here is a video on the viewing options , if you prefer. You can find your options by clicking on the drop-down to the right of the searching bar - Here are the options you have: Day - view only 1 day; this will let you see several calendars side-by-side if wanted. Week - view 1 week; this is the default view when you first start using Calendar.  You can actually click & drag the length of an event when in Week (or Day) view. Month - view an entire month; full day events are in reverse color (text on color) while timed events have the text color of the calendar. Year - quick way to jump to days in the further past or future, or to find date/day information; double-click on a date to jump back to the previous view but on that date Schedule - a list of up...

Google Sites - Limit Who Sees Published Site

Image
The "new" Google Sites has another new setting.  When deciding who can view your site, you now have more options than just the standard "Anyone" and "Everyone in my organization" - a huge improvement if you are trying to find ways to share data to a limited number of people.  This feature has been available when you create a new site; as of today, I could also use this setting on an existing site (created with the "New" Google Sites of course). When you have existing site, you need to change this in the following way. 1. Click on the Share icon (silhouette with plus), like you would when adding an editor to your site - 2. Look for the new option of "Published" which will let you control who views your site.  Click on the Change... at the end of the line - 3.  Select "Specific people can view when published" - 4. Type in the name of the person or group you want to be able to view the site -  5.  Cha...

Google Calendar - New Calendar General Settings

Image
Just as the calendar settings are similar but reorganized, the general Calendar settings are also a bit rearranged.  Also, it isn't intuitive how to go create an additional calendar.  Here are the general settings in the updated Calendar. The gear will still get you to your Calendar settings.  (You can also get to it when you are looking at a individual calendar's settings.) - When accessing settings, you have 3 options that appear above your calendars: General: general settings for your G Calendar account Add calendar: location to go to create an additional delegate calendar Import & export: place to go for importing a calendar or exporting one of your Google Calendars If you click on General, you have this sub-menu show up in the left-hand navigation pane.  These section titles let you move quickly to the area of the settings you want to get to - In the main content area (where the calendar is viewable), you have corresponding sections. ...

Google Slides - Availability of Grid View

Image
This is actually a feature I have requested, so I'm very happy to see it integrated into Google Slides! You can now view your slides in Grid View, allowing you to easily re-arrange them by dragging and dropping.  You have three methods for this - Method 1 - Go to the View Menu and select Grid View:   Method 2 - Use keyboard shortcuts of Control+Option+1 (Command+Option+1 for Macs) Method 3 - Go to the icons at the bottom left of the window and click on the Grid View Using any of these methods, you can view your slides in the grid view - which will let you drag and drop the slides into your preferred order:
